Hunger in our community is a significant problem. An average of 30% of youth enrolled in our Peninsula schools come from families who meet federal criteria for free or reduced lunches. For many, these are the only meals they receive with any regularity. The translation? About 2,300 children (1 in 4) and 1 in 7 adults across our community struggle with hunger.
Since 2016 Greater Gig Harbor Foundation has actively worked through the GGHF Social Capital Core Area Board on #CommunityHarvest, Gig Harbor Thanksgiving Basket Brigade to help address local food insecurities. Over the course of this time, and through these events and efforts, GGHF has raised and directed more than $2-million to area food banks, through direct delivery meals, thanksgiving baskets, and other nutrition focused programs. Help us continue this impact.
Join in a momentous evening as the Greater Gig Harbor Foundation (GGHF) and Uptown Gig Harbor host a gourmet “Black & White” dinner, raising funds for local agencies working to address food insecurities within the Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula community.
Every dollar raised through The Community Table equals about 5 pounds of food. Our intent is to raise enough funds to help stock the shelves of our local food banks for nearly 6 months. Attendees will join in a grand evening of locally sourced gourmet foods, prepared by area chefs, Northwest based cocktails crafted by local mixologists, and much more. Guests are encouraged to wear Black & White!
